*The Roman or Romanlar, also Turks of Romani Background, speak turkish as first language and are hanefi sunni muslims in religion, they are a the largest subgroup of the so called balkan xoraxane (Muslim roma). While some Xoraxane roma groups speak romani as first language or albanian, bosnian, this turkish roma, only speak Turkish as first language. Turkish speaking Romanlar live mostly in Turkey but also in Bulgaria, romania (dobruja), greece (western-thrace), in lesser case in north macedonia and kosovo. But also in Germany and Austria, where they came as turkish citizens gustworkers. The majority of the romanlar call themself to be turks. Turkish roma are closer to turks as to the christian europe roma, they call the christian roma as 'yabancı' (strangers). Very close to them are the crimean roma who are muslim too and who call themslef as Tatarian and majority speak crimean tatarian language. Also in Bulgaria Tatar-Roma live there.
Other names for the romanlar are türk Çingene, turci cigani, turski tsigani, turko-gyfti, turkish roma, turkish gypsy, Turko-Romani, tirkitiko Roma or turkitiko Roma. In east thrace in turkey a selfname is Şopar also written in slavic style Šopar in former yugoslavia. Some turkish roma men from bulgara went to poland as workers in the 2007 years, and married polish woman, there children called Melezi. The greek doctor paspati said , turks often married roma woman in ottoman empire, also in the dobruja the turko-romani are mixed of yörüks and roma.
Y-DNA studys from Turko-Romanis from Turkey, shows less % of Haplogroup H and L, the majority share also the same Y-DNA as the Host population in Turkey.
